Travel the gravel with more comfort and more confidence.  Riding gravel covers a wide range of terrain and surfaces, and that’s one of the things that makes it so appealing.  There are all kinds of bikes trying to cover all the bases.  It’s somewhere between hard and impossible to make a to make a bike with the right geometry and build to excel everywhere.  For wheels however, our Emporia hits the gravel sweet spot. We have observed that 40mm-45mm width is the Goldilocks tire size.  That’s what we ride, and at the races we go to, it is the most common tire size by a large margin.  For that tire size, a generous 25 or 26 mm internal rim width will plump up your tires and spread out the tread – and give you ride comfort with great grip.  On the constantly changing surfaces of any gravel ride, grip is of paramount importance.  And of course wheel durability is highly recommended.  And low wheel weight is awesome – some of the steepest grades we encounter here in Minnesota are on gravel roads.
